Yasur Volcano & Tanna Highlands Safari
This safari will take you through the Middle Bush area, past the wild
horses on the White Grass plains, coffee plantations, and many highland
villages reaching Mt. Loanialu at 552m. Across the ash plain moonscape
Isiwi area, terminating at the peak of Mt. Yasur. A further 15 minute
walk will place you at the crater’s edge (dependant on volcano activity
at the time) where one can ponder over the awesome power of nature.
Custom Village
This safari will take you into the forest to experience a way of life
that has not changed through time. Locally made authentic handicrafts
available to purchase. If time permits you will also visit the main
town of Lenakel on the return journey.
Lamkail Rainforest Tour
Meet the villagers, visit their lovely beach and explore an ancient
rainforest including a majestic Banyan Tree, Coconut Crab habitat
and view trees filled with sleeping flying Foxes. Your guide will
demonstrate the importance of the rainforest and show you traditional
hunting traps and fishing outriggers. There is plenty of time on this
tour to wander the beach, have a swim, buy some local handicrafts
or mingle with the Lamkail people.
Surf Beach & Waterfall Safari
A thrilling 4WD adventure to the spectacular black sand surf beach
on the wild east coast of Tanna. Visit the magnificent Louniel waterfall,
deep in the forest. Experience traditional foods and cooking methods.
Enjoy a picnic on the black sand surf beach before a swim, surf or
optional horse ride along the 5km shoreline. Bathe in the fresh water
spring then collect some handicrafts from the villagers, before late
afternoon returning to the resort.
Jon Frum Village Tour
Every Friday evening the followers of Jon Frum come from surrounding
areas to celebrate with song and dance to encourage the ‘messiah’
to return, bringing all the cargo he promised.
Beaches
White Grass Ocean Resort has a 300m private white sand beach with
large rock pools to explore and swim in. Within 5 minutes walk there
is the tiny “Kiss Kiss” beach so named due to its unique access; a
cave created over millions of years by water erosion, it’s hidden.
The second beach is a further 2 minutes walk. It is called the “family
beach” due to its enclosed aspect and is sheltered with soft sand
for the kiddies. This is also an ideal site to learn snorkelling.
The next beach is a further 50m. Here you can access the “Blue Hole”.
An underwater lake vaguely oval in shape, 50m between its furthest
point and 30m at it’s narrowest. The blue hole is everyone’s favourite
snorkelling spot. It is rare to find more than 3 snorkellers at any
one time in this marine haven.
